Highlighting Diversity Through Film
India International Film Festival of Boston is committed to being the best of Indian programming in Boston. Through the advent of film, India has always had an indigenous approach to sharing the stores of India with iconic filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Hrishikesh, and Shayam Bengal
We also see many Independent films as “Shakespeare Walla” (1964), “The Guru” (1965) “Bombay Talkie” with later mainstream popular films as “Room with a View” (1985), “Maurice” (1985), and “Howards End” (1992)
In recent years we have seen the crossover phenomena but while most of us see “Bollywood” as the dominant Indian film genre one must not forget that throughout the history of Indian Cinema some of the greatest directors and actors have crossed these cultural bridges “One Reel at a Time”
Join the IIFFB programming committee as we explore some of the best Indian cinema that continues this legacy.
